12:42 am - hey hey hey
well. I finally took and put up pictures of the outside, and more inside, though no upstairs still. I'm getting there. So yeah.... also, furniture, I'll have to take it's pictures too.

12:00 am - life, or something like it
Nope, no new pictures. I've painted baseboard in the kitchen, haven't done the trim yet. I have appliances, and some furniture, and rugs. MY kitchen looks like a kitchen. Livingroom still looks like a disaster area, but hey, I think my goal for the weekend is to clear the crap out and then rip up the carpeting, but I'm not looking forward to staples and tack strips. There is still kind of a house smell, I can't really describe it, it's just a bit funky. I think some of it is the rug, but some of it is the smell that you get outside, from the mushroom mine, I think. I should really get around to more inside pictures of the living room and kitchen, and some upstairs and outside ones, so's everyone knows about my garbage, the outside of the house, my orage creek, my hillside, and my lack of a front yard. I just haven't thought about it during the day. Just have been busy doing other things, even though I don't really have any desire to paint, whole rooms are fine, not sure about trim and stuff.

12:55 am - house
Yeah. I haven't updated in a long time. I've been busy. I've been looking for a house for quite awhile. Once it finally happened, it happened fast. Right before Thanksgiving I saw the house, Day after that I made an offer, and the day after Thanksgiving, I dropped off a check after I took them up on their counter-offer of full price. So, 40,000 it was. Um, 6 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, on 2.939 acres. And the closing was on December 28th. It was interesting. And the day of the closing and the two right before it was was eating tums like there was no tomorrow. Previous owners lost it. Apparently owed 80,000 on it. It had a bank barn and a corn crib then, and wasn't grody though. Some paint and such has made it smell so much better. Panelling in the living room and dining room is going to go. Dining room is getting painted for now. Living room is going to be waiting until spring and then ripped down.
so this is it )

only one for now, on a friend of mine that I haven't seen in awhile. I love her to death, but her taste in both men and tattoos are just bad. Her first was a tramp stamp, tribal, patriotic, butterfly. And this, oh.

Nike designs shoe for American Indians

By SARAH SKIDMORE, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 7 minutes ago

BEAVERTON, Ore. - Nike on Tuesday unveiled what it said is the first shoe designed specifically for American Indians, an effort aiming at promoting physical fitness in a population with high obesity rates.

The Beaverton-based company says the Air Native N7 is designed with a larger fit for the distinct foot shape of American Indians, and has a culturally specific look. It will be distributed solely to American Indians; tribal wellness programs and tribal schools nationwide will be able to purchase the shoe at wholesale price and then pass it along to individuals, often at no cost.

"Nike is aware of the growing health issues facing Native Americans," said Sam McCracken, manager of Nike's Native American Business program. "We are stepping up our commitment ... to elevate the issue of Native American health and wellness."

Nike said it is the first time it has designed a shoe for a specific race or ethnicity. It said all profits from the sale of the shoe will be reinvested in health programs for tribal lands, where problems with obesity, diabetes and related conditions are near epidemic levels in some tribes.

Nike designers and researchers looked at the feet of more than 200 people from more than 70 tribes nationwide and found that in general, American Indians have a much wider and taller foot than the average shoe accommodates. The average shoe width of men and women measured was three width sizes larger than the standard Nike shoe.

As a result, the Air Native is wider with a larger toe box. The shoe has fewer seams for irritation and a thicker sock liner for comfort.

Jerry Bread, outreach coordinator for the Native American Studies program at University of Oklahoma, said the idea was "fantastic" and addressed a core issue for tribes, though he was skeptical that the feet of people from so many tribes could be so similar.

"It's an excellent gesture and I know it will get a lot of support from tribal people," Bread said. "We stand to profit from it in our physical health and well being."

Dr. Kelly Acton, director of the national diabetes program for Indian Health Services, said she was dubious of working with a corporation at first but said she was delighted with the result, saying Nike "bent over backwards" to design a shoe and respect public health needs.

The N7 name is a reference to the seventh generation theory, used by some tribes to look to the three generations preceding them for wisdom and the three generations ahead for their legacy.

The design features several "heritage callouts" as one product manager described it, including sunrise to sunset to sunrise patterns on the tongue and heel of the shoe. Feather designs adorn the inside and stars are on the sole to represent the night sky.

The company anticipates selling at least 10,000 pairs and raising $200,000 for tribal programs. At $42.80 wholesale, it represents less of a financial opportunity than a goodwill and branding effort.

"The reason I like it is that, even if there's not a big Native American market, it gives people the impression there is a constituency that deserves attention," said John Dickson, a member of the executive council of the Native American Leadership Alliance in Washington, D.C.

Paul Swangard, managing director of the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center at the University of Oregon, said the product reflects how Nike does business.

The company prides itself on designing specifically for certain athletes and having close ties to its customers. Nike has been involved with the tribal community for years, supporting tribal athletic teams, events and other social initiatives.

"It reinforces the core of the Nike brand, which is: If you have a body you are an athlete," Swangard said.

You're A Prayer for Owen Meany!

by John Irving

Despite humble and perhaps literally small beginnings, you inspire
faith in almost everyone you know. You are an agent of higher powers, and you manifest
this fact in mysterious and loud ways. A sense of destiny pervades your every waking

12:47 am - I know, two in two days, but I need to rant...
I really feel like an ass today. I have had all intentions to go see Lori and Josh and Gannon for months. She was my roommate second semester of freshman year. Josh may as well have been my roommate too. I spent a lot of time with them. They were the best roommates I had in college. And she's one of the few people I've talked to since graduating. She graduated in May, had Gannon towards the end of April. Josh died last Wednesday. I feel like such an ass because I kept coming up with reasons that seeing them could wait.
I suppose though that this is the kick in the pants to finally go see Brad. Fuck he's only in Pittsburgh and I haven't' had the motivation.

03:22 am
I got lots of sleep last night. First I went to visit one of my friends and fell asleep. Then I drove home and promptly went back to bed. Slept in this morning too. Once I went to work I promptly avoided doing work. I wandered about a bit. I bagged a little and talked to Sara and James. I fairly successfully avoided work for two hours. And I was in a good mood and well rested so I had a fair amount of energy. And then I had energy drink. I don't think I sat still(or stood still as the case may be)for the rest of the night. Also I babbled a whole lot. And there was no barrier between my brain and my mouth. I told someone that it was probably a good thing I didn't have to deal with anyone particularly dumb today. Also my mouth was particularly foul today.
And one of my coworkers told me that she'd been entertaining herself by trying to figure out who at work was straight and who wasn't. Also for some reason origami came up, and she wanted to know if I can make anything inappropriate. So then I did. And for some reason no one ever believes me that I found it while looking for flowers and following links. Seriously people keep thinking I'm worse than I am.

03:25 am - since it's june. and I burned in hell last year
WHAT THE HELL: English teacher Denice Kovanda gave her students at
Fillmore Central High School in Geneva, Neb., an assignment: create a
travel brochure for a place you'd like to visit. Michael Sattler, 16,
got a grade of zero on his. "I asked what was so wrong with it,"
Sattler said. "She said I used the word Hell in every part of it. It
was all about Hell, Hell, Hell." But, Sattler argued, his brochure
wasn't for the afterlife, but rather Hell, Michigan. Sattler's parents
support the boy, and sent a copy to the unofficial mayor of Hell, John
Colone. "It was good," he said. "It had all the right information on
it. The layout was great. It had good pictures. It was creative."
Colone sent the boy a box full of Hell merchandise to share with his
classmates and a "Grumpier Than Hell" coffee mug for Kovanda, but
principal Jim Rose intercepted the box and says he'll send it back
unopened. (Ann Arbor News) ...Right: all the kid really needs is a Get
Out of Hell Free card.

Life is interesting when with one person you have conversations about hemorrhoids, diarrhea, priapism, and where baby pigs for dissection come from.
Yesterday I worked and then got back home and was going to take a nap. But then my phone rang, and I rolled over to grab it and fell off the couch. So then I went out and occupied my day playing frisbee and then tried kite flying. I couldn't really catch the frisbee very often, but it was still fun. Next I decided to try flying a kite since they were in my car. I did however get the kite up, but didn't get it to stay up. Though I did get it stuck in a tree a bit, and then I fell down laughing like an idiot and got wrapped in string. I spent a fair amount of time rolling around on the ground, and ended up doing backwards summersaults. As I was tying that I reached up to scratch my head and found grass in my hair.

Haven't updated since who knows when. I think perhaps because I haven't really been doing anything that anyone really cares to hear about. Work mostly, a bit of hanging out with friends. Went to the science center at somepoint. It reminded me that I was trying to resist buying plush microbes online. Also it was fun. Also, Butler for being the sort of place that it is, also is home to a museum of jade and ivory items. Went to the Maridon Museum awhile back. It was at least 4 dollars worth of interesting.
Happy easter I guess.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
You have to admit, Cancer, that your chances for meeting someone special are considerably hindered if you spend most of your time at home! How about inviting friends over for dinner, with the stipulation that every guest brings a cute single friend? You could also meet a tasty-looking dish at a gourmet cooking class. And since you're always in the market for someone with a great sense of humor, it might make sense to scope out a comedy club. If all else fails, head for the water. Being a Moon Child, you are strongly influenced by the tides, making your chances for meeting someone at a lakeside resort or ocean retreat very strong indeed.

Best Pick-Up Line:
"Remember this moment, so we can tell our kids how we met."

01:50 pm - I want you to find me I forget myself; I want you to remind me I don't want anybody else
Curiously enough, the subject is lyrics to a song, but not the one I'm listening to, or the one I have stuck in my head. I'm listening to Offspring, the Kids Aren't Alright, but have Counting Crow, A Long December stuck in my head. The year is that much closer to being over. I've bought some Christmas presents, but I need to buy wrapping paper and wrap them so I don't misplace them. I already misplaced one of the ones I got for R.
I honestly haven't done much of anything recently. I think after work I'll play in the snow. We today have the first snow that has stuck. I'd take a picture, but that would involve motivation. My wooden skis are in my mother's attic. I started going through my stuff up there. Found some to get rid of, mostly I threw away papers that I don't know why I kept. Also, I realized I have alot of boxes, and jars and such. The jars and bottles I can part with, the boxes I rather like though. Metal boxes, stone boxes, wood boxes. I think in that time frame I gave my friends boxes for presents.

12:46 am - Serendipity: to make discoveries, by accident and sagacity, of things not in quest of.
Mostly, I like the word. Also I enjoyed the movie when I saw it in high school. That was in the period where I often saw movies with a certain boy. Some of them it was more a "saw", but Serendipity I did see. I think that movie was the one where I reached over and held his hand and perhaps kissed him. Haha. Oh, someone was talking about Zoolander (so dumb). And I mentioned that I hadn't managed to watch more than about 5 minutes of it at a time, and the person that had been talking about it was like "oh were you too busy making out?". Haha, I denied it, because ya know, strangers don't need to know about my past personal life. Not like probablly any of you want to know either, but you're stuck with it. And I don't even issue TMI alerts. I've been feeling weird about life recently. Nothing extraordinary has happened recently. I guess, the only decisions that I've made lately are ones that life has forced me into. Sometimes things happen, in a serendipitous manner. The discussions of fate in the movie gets you thinking. Sometimes things just seem to happen, and it feels right.

05:02 pm - I don't care if Monday's blue
Nothing really has been happening lately. Working, hanging out with friends occasionally. Life has been life, I still haven't figured anyhthing else out, and my attention span or lack there of stays the same. And on things that aren't like me, I'm already thinking about what to buy people for christmas. Considering that I think I didn't start thinking about it until february last year because it was when I had some semblance of money. There were things I wanted to say here, but I don't really know how to say them or what they all were.

Tv is on. There is a crazy man in the movie. He as eating something and making the same food noises as my sister. It amused me. I haven't been cooking or baking much lately. I made pizza and cheesecake last week. Finaly got at least part of the piza crust to turn out normally. However the one pizza's crust was still a bit texturally off. I doesn't make an sense to me. I kneaded it, and then let it rise before splitting the ball. And then the one was perfect, and the other not so. I preheated the oven. Only difference is that the weirdish one was on the bottom shelf in a gas oven.

In other news. I've had an interesting couple of weeks. Men in kilts, yum. Train, fun. I also went bowling at somepoint, but that would be no fun to hear about.

EDIT: So I think my mother has finally realized that I went to college because it seemed like what everyoe expected of me. She doesn't figure R will go. I went, I thought about dropping out, but didn't because I figured I'd disappoint people. I'm not sure culinary academy would have turned out any better. But it wouldhave been for me. But I did realy enjoy the spanish. The biology was what held soe interest to me. It would have been easier if there was just one thing I was good at or interested in. I mean, I'm alright at a number of things, but not spectacular at anything. That and I just always wat to learn about everything. But never too much, because I get bored.

11:16 am - What the hell is going on? The cruellest dream-reality.
Work then cards are my plans for the evening. I got a cute tanktop today, sort of a corset look to it. I went to get tires this morning, thankfully it didn't take me as long as I expected it to. Today I will probablly find out if I have a chance of getting the days off/parts of days off that I requested. I needed the evening of the 15th, and then all of the 16th and 17th off. My transitions are non-existant, and the jumble is random. Labor day... my brother told me he was skipping school. I told him he wasn't because he didn't have school. I was going to go to McConnel's Mill, but my other plans took longer than expected. However I did get to consume food, so that works. I'll pick another day to go to MM, although I need to find someone to go with me. Blah, I used to just go with people when I got off work on Sundays, but I've been working in the evening, and my friends don't get up in timely enough manner to play before I go to work. I mean, hell, I've played at Hell's Hollow in the dark, but the waterfall by Breakneck is quite another. Rawr. Hiho, hiho it's off to work I go.
